  According to the EPA, an inert ingredient is any substance other than an “active” ingredient in a pesticide product?  It is important to note, the term “inert” does not imply that the chemical is non-toxic. 

Many countries outside the US strictly ban DEET use due to safety concerns?

Some essential oils should be avoided by pregnant women? Peppermint oil especially.   Pregnant women should avoid this product until they consult with their physician.  

Denatured alcohol is ethanol alcohol (yes, the kind that goes in your gas tank) that's been mixed with toxic additives to make it poisonous?

On some bottles of insect repellant there are warnings that state: “Warning: this product is toxic to aquatic life with long-term effects”? 

Some bug repellant labels state something along the lines that: If, while you are spraying yourself with their product, be careful to avoid getting it on your clothes and, if that happens, you must consider your clothes toxic and they must be washed separately from the other laundry? 

By reading the labels carefully on the pesticides that we put on our skin, we can avoid putting dangerous chemicals on our families, friends and children; chemicals that may kill the bugs around you for now, but what long-term effects are we to suffer?
