They are described as aggressive, often leaving hundreds of itchy, burning bites on individuals, often described as feeling like a sting.
They thrive in damp, moist soil and marshy areas, with populations thriving after storms (like Ian).
Most active at dawn, dusk, and during humid, overcast days with little to no wind.
While the experts say they are, difficult to stop and that deterrents include using insect repellents with DEET, wearing long sleeves/pants, and staying indoors during peak times." We say NO WAY! Stay indoors during peak times? DEET? Long sleeves/pants...in the heat of summer?
Please, just pick up a bottle or two of Adiós! Mo Skitos! (AMS) and you can save yourself from the bites, the DEET, wearing hot clothes on hot days/night AND having to "stay indoors". I'm sorry but that advice just sounds like defeat. My advice: Just spray AMS, forget about the bugs and go about your life.
These biting midges are barely visibal to the naked eye small enough to pass through standard screen doors. This is where the prevention comes in. Light an AMS candle in your screened in patio area, camper, tent or other vunerable areas and the no-see-ums won't want to come through the screen. Also, where and when there is a chance for these pests to be around, just prevent the bites by spraying on Adiós! Mo Skitos and go about your outdoor fun.
